SCPA Mixed Doubles 2026
There was an excellent entry of 36 teams for the 2026 SCPA Mixed Doubles on a beautiful sunny day at Burridge on Sunday, September 20th.
After the morning leagues, the 9 league winners and the next best 7 teams went through to the main competition. Karen Lombard & Chris Turner were top on 3 wins +28 closely followed by Claire Rickman & Roger Greenhalgh on +27. Other league winners on 3 wins were Hassi Leverett & Dave Kilshaw +24, Paula Fauvel & Matthew Butcher also on +24, Carrie Litchfield & Chris Barron +18. Terri Cox & Dave Lucas +16, Alicia Clarke & Dave Plaistow +12, Maureen Lee & Peter Missen +10 and on 2 wins +11 Kerry Thompson & Tomasz Rypien.
Defending champions and top seeds Karen Lombard & Chris Turner went out in the last 16 to Sue Parr & Stefan Wilczek, who reached the quarter-finals for the second successive year, before losing to Kerry Thompson & Tomasz Rypien. Ali & Dave Stubbs were narrowly beaten by Paula Fauvel & Matthew Butcher who then lost out to Kerry & Tomasz in the semi-final.
In the other half of the draw, Kaylee & Callum Lombard saw off two Cobbetts teams, Terri Cox & Dave Lucas and then Hassi Leverett & Dave Kilshaw (Doubles champion last weekend), to reach the semi-finals. Here they met the Parley pairing of Cigdem & Paul Laity who had beaten Parley team-mates, Alicia Clarke & Dave Plaistow followed by another colleague Erica Dixon-Gough (with Independent Leo Black).
In very close, hard fought final, Callum & Kaylee narrowly beat Kerry & Tomasz 13-11 to take the title.
As in 2025, the main consolage final was an all Cobbetts affair, this time Julie Power & Andy Barron beating Terri Cox & Dave Lucas.
Having just missed out on the main competition, being the only team with 2 wins that did not go through, Aimee Rickman & Dave Plumhoff quickly made their way through to the plate final. After a long wait, they eventually faced and beat Angela Brooks & Martin Gordon.
The plate consolage was won by Carolyn Greenhalgh & Eliot Mortimore from Crondall, who beat Sue Brierley & Kevin Williams from Parley. This was revenge for 2025 when Sue Brierley (with Dave Plaistow) beat the Crondall pairing of Carol & Allan Paice in this final!
The four team wooden spoon league was won by Bill Albright & Nic Bowker who won all 3 of their games.
Unfortunately, four of the teams in the list of prize winners below did not stay to have their photo taken. We will get your winnings to you in due course!
