Parley Petanque Club Newsletter July 2026
I am delighted to announce that our website visits by non members has reach 1000....a real milestone. This is good news and shows that our revived website is working well for the club.
Also pleased to confirm that the new sleepers have been installed on the ‘old terrain’ replacing all the rotten wood ....this was becoming a genuine slip hazard. Our thanks go to the Parley Volunteers who worked hard in difficult conditions. Within the Volunteers are electricians, engineers and other craftsmen who give up their time to enrich the local community.....we are lucky to be able to call on their expertise to help us improve our facility.
Our programme of events is in full swing with club competitions every month! Our thanks to Mike for organising. Although we are currently in a heatwave I’m pleased to confirm our Christmas Party 2026 is at St Mark’s Hall on 5th December so make a note in your diary.
Our teams are mid season with Parley One on top of League 2 NFPL with Parley Blues in the mix in Div 1 NFPL. All games have been tough but our strength in depth has seen our teams doing well. Our Southern Counties team were promoted to Div 1 last season and how found the opposition a real step up! The team have produced some good performances thus far.....we wish all our teams every success for the rest of the season.
On a personal note I will be standing down as Chairman at the club AGM in November. Having taken over in difficult circumstances from Tom I have tried to give the club stability whilst also dealing with issues following the WPPC redevelopment of the Hub and also focusing on club development. The new floodlights, resurfacing the old terrain and replacing the perimeter sleepers have been a real improvement and further work to light the new terrain is also ongoing.
I have had great support from the club committee and the membership without whom many things would not have happened. Our club continues to thrive with attendance at club sessions and club activities always well supported.

Parley Players Qualify for Regional Finals
Dave Plaistow and Kevin Williams both from Parley, with their team mates, have qualified to play in the PE Inter-Regional tournament which will be held in Weston Super Mare in September.
After the qualification sessions Dave and his team came fifth and Kevin seventh in the eight team squad and will represent the Southern Region in the National Competition.
We wish them well and will be cheering them on.

MAINTENANCE
Keeping our terrains and surroundings in top shape is a team effort, and we rely on regular "work parties" to get the job done. From weeding and tidying to replacing strings and more, there's always something to tackle.
We warmly welcome enthusiastic members to join us—especially those with unique skills or expertise that can contribute to the club's success.
